Board Member, Steve LaForest, grew up in Kingston, Massachusetts before heading west to Los Angeles where he met his wife, Megan. They have three daughters and two grandchildren. He has been in the mortgage loan business for 39 years, and currently works for New American Funding in Greeley as the Branch Manager.
Steve has been involved in education issues for about ten years here in Greeley. He is currently the Chair of the Community Council on Education, and he felt the Success Foundation was a great fit when he was asked to join the board. “I am passionate about education and the benefits our young children receive from our wonderful school district.” Steve not only serves as a member of our board, but is also the co-chair of our Resource Development Committee.
When thinking about the success of our board, Steve mentioned two very important things. He feels that we need to continue to reach out more to our community and let them know what great things The Success Foundation is doing to help our school district. “Community involvement with The Success Foundation is key so that more people know what we do.” Steve also feels that in order to have an outstanding foundation that supports our school district, we need to continue to work on building an endowment for the foundation to ensure its continued success in the future.
We are so grateful for Steve and his aid on our board. He is such a support to this community, and we’re lucky to have him!
What is one fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
“When I was young, I sailed in the National Sunfish Doubles Championships and we came in second.”
