The Success Foundation is ecstatic to welcome Chris Garcia to our board! Chris is a very active member of the Greeley Community. Current board member, Felecia Burke, had initially reached out to Chris about joining our board, and after a follow up conversation with Executive Director, Julie Hill, Chris knew he wanted to be a part of the work that The Success Foundation does. Chris is a huge advocate for youth in Greeley-Evans School District 6, and firmly believes in the work we’re doing at The Success Foundation. He is currently serving on our Public Relations Committee, and hopes to work with the Events Committee as he moves forward.
Garcia has focused his career on higher education, working at three of the largest post-secondary education institutions in Northern Colorado: Colorado State University, Aims Community College, and the University of Northern Colorado, where he is currently employed as the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations. He has experience working in admissions and student recruitment, cultural centers, financial aid, and career services. His current line of work focuses on network building, communications, and building UNC’s career programming and resources.
When asked about his idea of success regarding our board, Chris stated that he would like more District 6 families and Greeley-Evans residents to know about the Success Foundation. Secondly, as an active recruiter in the Hispanic/Latino community, which creates more than 60% of our district, he looks forward to being a catalyst in starting the conversation in how the district and The Success Foundation can engage these families around student success.
Welcome to The Success Foundation, Chris! We’re thrilled to have you!
What is one fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
“I was recently accepted into the Young Leaders Program through the Center for American Progress. Along with 14 other individuals from throughout the United States, I will visit Washington D.C., Mexico City, Queretaro, and Guadalajara, Jalisco, over an entire week this August to discuss U.S. and Mexico relations. If you can’t tell, I’m very excited.”
