About 300 riders brought their bikes to Lincoln Park to take one of four route options for the event. More cyclists signed up for the 50- and 62-mile rides this year than last year, according to Julie Hill, the executive director of the Success Foundation Serving Greeley-Evans Schools.
Daniela Irwin handed out rider bags after cyclists checked in. A junior at Early College Academy in Greeley, Daniela volunteered so she could earn service hours for the National Honor Society and help out beyond that.
“I thought it was so cool to see everybody get over here, and they’re all supporting one big cause,” Daniela said. “I just think that’s community — everyone getting together and just doing awesomeness.”
