2020 Focus

What’s a SmartLab? It’s an engaging program where students explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and media arts through applied technology and project-based learning. It’s a fully-integrated learning environment where everything from the furniture and technology to curriculum and assessment, work together to support hands-on, minds-on learning. It’s a place where personalized learning and intrinsic motivation engage students of all ages, interests, and abilities.

Special thanks to students at Northridge High School for creating this video, from the story line to the actual shooting and editing!

SmartLabs contribute to the development of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, information literacy, and adaptability skills. These skills are needed for success in the modern workplace. Balancing traditional academics with the development of these skills is one of the biggest challenges facing educators today. New approaches are needed and SmartLabs provide a fresh approach.

“SmartLabs have a lot of tech. This got me really excited because I don’t really have a lot of tech at home. You can do a lot with technology.”
