As 2017 comes to a close, we’ve had some time to reflect back on our accomplishments.
Nineteen 21st Century Education Grants in the amount of $30,154 were awarded. Lego Robotics, tools to create virtual reality, a computer coding club, 3D printer, fly fishing equipment and materials to create original murals and music…to name a few…are enhancing learning opportunities for students.
Devices and digital content licenses totaling $138,482 were purchased to complete Blended Learning implementation at six elementary schools. Research and data is showing that Blended Learning is having a positive impact on the achievement of all elementary students in District 6.
Gifts and grants in the amount of $130,239.25 were directed to traditional public and charter schools to benefit student learning and success.
The Greeley and Evans Communities passed a mill levy override that will provide much needed financial support for District 6 students!
What a fantastic year!
We had the opportunity to sit down with The Success Foundation’s founding Executive Director, volunteer Judy Kron, to find out why she felt it was so necessary to start this organization. Judy was on the school board at the time, and the director of communications and superintendent were interested in looking at ways to raise additional funds for the district. She spent some time speaking with directors of other foundations and it was decided that The Success Foundation would be an important asset for District 6.
Judy had worked for United Way for 20 years and felt very comfortable in the non-profit world, so she volunteered to help start The Success Foundation. She reached out to several community members passionate about education and created a board of directors. Together they spent about six months looking at the structure of The Success Foundation, including what it should look like and what it should fund.
Since inception in 2010, The Success Foundation has seen amazing growth and change. The very first fundraising event included just a few attendees at the district administration building on a snowy evening. From that event, however, the board saw the desire community members had to help improve education in Greeley and Evans schools. The idea for what is now The Success Foundation’s largest fundraising event, the Success For Our Kids Breakfast, was born and the rest is history! Almost eight years later, over $1 Million has been raised to help support district 6 schools!
The Success Foundation has been able to fund many wonderful projects in our school district because of the vision, leadership, and work of Judy, all board members and volunteers, and because of YOU, our generous and loyal donors. We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to our work. It’s been and amazing year for District 6 and The Success Foundation…here’s to 2018!
