A 21st Century Education Grant from The Success Foundation provided 65 choir students in grades 3-5 at Madison Elementary the chance to participate in Willy Wonka the Musical. Choir teacher, Stephanie Neujahr, held auditions in December, and immediately started rehearsals when school resumed after Winter Break. 19 students were cast in lead roles, and all worked very hard to learn and memorize their music in time for the show that premiered on March 28, 2019. The students were also involved in set and prop creation as well as costume design. It was a school-wide effort that ended in a fantastic performance.
“Watching my students succeed in a very difficult performance made my heart sing. Thank you, Success Foundation, for offering my students an opportunity to express themselves in ways they never even dreamed.”
