What is an Innovative Learning Grant?
The goal of The Success Foundation’s Innovative Learning Grant Program is to provide opportunities for District 6 staff to develop/advance projects and programs that incorporate Colorado State Academic Standards in innovative and creative ways. The overarching goal of the Innovative Learning Grant program is to increase student success and engagement in District 6 schools. Projects/Programs must incorporate standards from at least one of the nine Colorado Academic Standard Areas: Visual and Performing Arts, Comprehensive Health and Physical Education, Computer Science, Mathematics, Reading, Writing and Communicating, Science, Social Studies, and World Languages.
Award Amount
Generally, Innovative learning Grants are awarded in amounts up to $2,500. Should a project/program require funding in excess of $2,500, please contact the Success Foundation. Larger grant amounts will be considered on an individual basis.
PLEASE NOTE: Any funding request that exceeds $2,500 would be considered when possible, but all Innovative Learning Grant applications should have a base budget that does not exceed $2,500. Any funds not spent by May 31st in the year the grant is received must be returned to The Success Foundation.
Examples
Collaborative Murals- Chappelow K-8 Arts Magnet School

Unified Art is being introduced because students have shown a strong interest in working with clay in Ceramics 1, and the goal is to provide them with more exposure throughout their four years here. Wheel throwing often requires assistance, but new tools have been identified that can support students and increase their independence. Funding is being requested to purchase two Strong Arm Centering/Opening Tools with standard clamps and two Shimpo Aspire Table Top Pottery Wheels. These tools will help students center and open clay with ease, reducing strain and allowing them to work more independently, whether sitting, standing, or using a wheelchair.
This project has a collection of large-scale murals created by students in visual arts classes, focusing on topics that reflect the school, district, community, and human values such as kindness, diversity, and belonging. These collaborative murals will contribute uplifting messages to the school environment. The project will allow students to explore meaningful ideas, work together, and develop empathy and pride in their work. Funds will be used to purchase supplies for 10 large canvases (approx. 5' x 6'), with a goal to complete 5 murals by the end of 2023 and 5 more in the future. The murals will beautify the school and inspire the creative community.
Adaptive Wheel Throwing- Greeley West High School
The Lion King Kids- James Madison STEAM Academy
This project will have students learn and perform Disney's Lion King Kids musical. This high-quality production will showcase their talents and provide valuable experiences in music literacy, rhythmic and melodic accuracy, and dramatic expression. They will perform the show for peers and families, conveying the meaning of the text and music through their performance.
